Congregation B’nai Torah Membership

Thank you for your interest in joining our B’nai Torah community. You will find B’nai Torah to be a warm and welcoming place. As we celebrate the 51st anniversary of the founding of our synagogue this year, we continue to expand the depth and breadth of the services and programming we offer to our congregants and the surrounding communities.

Here are some highlights that you may find of interest.

A home for prayer…

•Shabbat and festival prayer services throughout the year
•Participate in a variety of ecumenical services through the Southeast Lake County Clergy

Association
•A Family Choir that participates in a variety of our services
•Choices of High holiday Services geared to adults, families and very young children

A home for study…
•Weekday and weekend adult classes in Hebrew, Judaic studies, current events, and more
•Family Hebrew program where parents and children learn together
•Reshet (Hebrew for “net”) program for post Bar/Bat Mitzvah through high school

students where the students choose topics of study supplemented with field trips
•Gesher (Hebrew for “bridge”) Hebrew school program for children requiring special education
•Newly formed Kavod (Hebrew for “honor”) Hebrew school program for children who want to learn at an accelerated pace
•Parent/child make your own tallit project for bar/bat mitzvah students

A place for performing Mitzvot…
•Support our sister Jewish community of Tula, Russia
•Participate in Pups for Peace-an organization which purchases, trains, and places bomb

sniffing dogs and their handlers in Israel
•Organize Feed the Homeless days and collect essential items for a homeless shelter
•Annual State of Israel Bond dinner

A place for being with friends…
•Sisterhood offers a broad range of events (e.g., Rosh Chodesh celebrations, Women’s

Passover seder and hosting of luncheons for the elderly)
•Newly formed Men’s Club
•Newly formed Youth Group for high school students
•Child-centered, play-based pre-school curriculum in a nurturing environment.
•Summer day camp for pre-school aged children
•Annual Family Retreat
